Here are some of my favourite ways to use this sauce: as a marinade for meat or seafood, as a glaze for barbecued dishes, or as a sauce for stir-fries.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First of all, in case you didn\u2019t know, &#8216;Teriyaki&#8217; actually describes a cooking method in Japanese. &#8216;Teri&#8217; means gloss and &#8216;yaki&#8217; means grilled, roasted or fried. You can also use Tamari.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sake<\/strong> \u2013 Japanese rice wine <a href=\"https:\/\/1mal1japan.de\/produkt\/junmai-sake-nihonshu\/\"><u>(im Shop ansehen)<\/u><\/a> adds a hint of fruitiness and complexity to the sauce.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mirin<\/strong> \u2013 This is Japanese sweet rice wine <a href=\"https:\/\/1mal1japan.de\/produkt\/hon-mirin\/\"><u>(im Shop ansehen)<\/u><\/a>. It adds a delicate sweetness and aroma and gives the sauce a lovely sheen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sugar<\/strong> \u2013 Sugar adds sweetness and balances the salty, savoury flavour of the Teriyaki sauce. Then remove it from the heat and leave to cool. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mit-teriyaki-sauce-kochen\">Cooking with Teriyaki sauce:<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the way: there are many recipes that recommend ingredients such as rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil or fresh garlic in the Teriyaki sauce. Some also use ground ginger or garlic powder. I wouldn\u2019t recommend this if you want to make an authentic Japanese Teriyaki sauce.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adding these ingredients creates a slightly different flavour and may overpower a dish. Japanese cuisine is all about subtle flavours.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, you can still adapt the recipe to suit your own tastes.
