Matcha is more than just a drink – it is an integral part of Japanese culture and history. In the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, also known as ‘Chanoyu’, Matcha is at the heart of the ritual. This ceremony is deeply rooted in Zen philosophy and emphasises values such as harmony, respect, purity and tranquillity.

Over time, Matcha has carved out a firm place for itself in modern cuisine. Its popularity in cafés and restaurants around the world is a testament to its versatility and unique flavour profile.

Make your own matcha latte:

Pour 100 ml of slightly cooled boiled water over it and whisk with a Chasen or a whisk until the Matcha is smooth and slightly frothy. Divide the Matcha between two cups or glasses and froth the warm milk.

Tip

For a vegan alternative, feel free to replace the milk with soya, oat or almond milk.
