This katakuriko is made from 100% potato starch and is incredibly versatile in Japanese cooking! Incidentally, the term ‘katakuriko’ refers to starch extracted from potatoes in Japan. You’ll immediately notice that this product is a real all-rounder in the kitchen!
It is a typical potato starch used in Japan for both savoury recipes and for wagashi, i.e. traditional sweets such as Daifuku Mochi. For example, it is used to thicken sauces and soups or to coat meat, such as in Kaaraga!
But it is also used when preparing homemade ramen noodles, gyoza dumplings or Japanese mochi dough, it wins us over every time. This katakuriko can only be substituted with other starches in exceptional cases.
